Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have agreed on settlement less than two weeks after she filed for divorce in New York.
In a statement released to Sky News Online, Holmes’ lawyer Jonathan Wolfe said: "The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed.
"We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.
"We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution."
There were no further details issued about the nature of the settlement between the pair, who had been married for five years.
Separately, spokespeople for Holmes and Cruise issued a joint statement on behalf of their clients, confirming they are now focused on protecting their six-year-old daughter Suri.
It said: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.
"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."
Holmes filed for divorce in Manhattan on June 29, reportedly over concerns about Suri being raised in the Church of Scientology, of which Cruise is a central member.
Some media reports suggested Holmes feared her daughter might be forced into a secretive branch of the church called Sea Org, which some have likened to a religious order.
Reportedly the divorce filing had been kept secret until the last minute, and had blind-sided mega-star Tom Cruise.
He has been shooting a film in Iceland and Holmes has been in New York with Suri.
The couple had been due to appear in court on July 17 if they had not managed to reach an agreement before then.
Lawyers for both Cruise - who celebrated his 50th birthday last Tuesday - and 33-year-old Holmes were thought to have been negotiating through the weekend to reach the deal.
Cruise has two adopted children with his second wife, Nicole Kidman, and had previously been married to actress Mimi Rogers.
The marriage to Cruise was the first for Holmes, who was previously engaged to actor Chris Klein.
