Kaduna/Yobe Mayhem: PDP CWC Condemns Spate Of Killings

The Peoples Democratic Party Central Working Committee has condemned in strongest terms all forms of violent extremism whether perpetrated in the name of religion, politics or under any guise in the northern part of the country.
In a communiqué issued at a 3-day retreat in Uyo yesterday , the party said its focal points were reconciliation, reformation and rebuilding, which are all centred on membership drive; strategy for funding, and the party’s democracy and discipline.
The national secretary of the party, who read the communiqué, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, said the retreat resolved to pursue vigorously the reconciliation processes that are on-going in the party.
He said:  “The retreat resolved to institutionalise regular interface between the party and elected political office holders in both the executive and legislative arms of government to ensure party ideals and programmes are faithfully implemented.
“The retreat resolved that the issue of women and youth empowerment is a critical vehicle for the growth and sustainability of not only the party but democracy and the Nigerian nation.
“The retreat resolved to entrench discipline at all levels of the party machinery. The National Working Committee must henceforth enforce the constitutional provisions on discipline. This must be done with due regard to equity, justice and fairness with zero tolerance for impunity.
“The party also resolved to review its reward system to ensure that party faithful are duly motivated. It added that its membership drive must be a continuous exercise and NWC must strengthen the contact, mobilize and strategise its operation to sustain the expansion of the party’s membership.
