Wives of Northern Governors Appeal to Boko Haram
Disturbed by the increasing activities of the Boko Haram sect and the loss of innocent lives in parts of northern states, the governors’ wives, lamented the spate of killings and level of insecurity in parts of the northern states, and they pleaded with the sect to give peace a chance, noting that dialogue remained the best option in the resolution of disputes.
Mr. Samuel Orbunde, who is Chief Press Secretary to the wife of Benue State Governor and Chairperson of the Forum, Mrs. Yemisi Sus-wam, in a statement at the end of an emergency meeting of the group, lamented the serious security challenges facing the country.
They also urged Nigerians to support the peace initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, which they said was aimed at fostering greater unity.
