Shirt makers Umbro have officially unveiled the new Manchester City home shirt - a month after Australia beat them to it. Club captain Vincent Kompany is snapped modelling the new black and blue kit with famous fan Noel Gallagher in the promotional pictures on the Umbro website. Noel Gallagher said: “The new home kit is pure class. It might be the best one we’ve had in a decade. As modern and radical as it is though, it’s nice to see Umbro keeping our heritage alive in the new away kit. The best dressed defending champions of all time? No doubt.” The Home shirt retains City’s iconic sky blue colour and also incorporates black detailing and trim which takes influence from the 1969 FA Cup and 1970 League Cup winning kits. The new Away shirt sees a return to the classic maroon colour worn by the FA Cup winning teams of 1934 and 1956, also tailored by Umbro. Both kits are available to pre-order from 6th July. The away kit is available on general sale from 14th July and the home kit on 26th July. A sports shop in Brisbane caused a stir in June when it put the shirt, which features a black badge and collar, on sale. An ex-pat City fan spotted the shirt, priced at $99 (around £60) and sent the picture to the MEN. The 2012/13 kit will be the last to be made by Manchester-based manufacturers Umbro before City switch to Nike.
