Explosion heard in Abuja

 

Authorities cannot give details of the incident yet

Explosion has been reportedly heard around the commercial Wuse II area of Abuja. The explosion was reported to have happened around 9:00pm, close to the presmises of a shopping plaza, at Amino Kano crescent, with varying accounts of the incident.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA said it has been alerted to the incident and have subsequently cordoned off the area believed to have been affected by the explosion.

In a statement issued by the agency's spokesman, Yashua Shuaib, who is away in Japan, he said so far, there are no human casualties and no injuries. 

When officers of the agency who were on ground at the scene of the incident were contact, they told PREMIUM TIMES the could only confirm the alert of an explosion which they recieved and that the area have been cordoned off. They complained the area was too dark for any further investigation of the incident and also expressed fear there might be a secondary bomb planted around the scene.
