Kaduna State Government on Monday relaxed by 12 hours, the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state.

The curfew was imposed after Sunday’s bombing of three churches in Zaria and Kaduna.

The curfew will now take effect from 6p.m to 6a.m.

The Commissioner for Information Saidu Adamu made the announcement on Monday in Kaduna while speaking to reporters after the State Security Council meeting, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The state government had imposed the curfew following a violent protest that erupted in Kaduna after the attacks.

Hundreds of youths had taken to the streets in Trikania and Gonin-Gora areas of the state capital, protesting against the suicide bomb attack on Shalom Church in the Trikania neighbourhood.

Explosions also occurred at Christ the King Catholic Church in Sabon Gari area, as well as the ECWA Church Wusasa, both in Zaria.

Scores died in the attacks while many were injured.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen on Sunday night shot and killed two persons in Gombe, the Gombe State capital.

The incident occurred in Unguwan Jega Dafari area of Gombe township.

The gunmen accessed the area through a narrow path to a place where people assembled after saying their last night prayer of the day.

On reaching there, they opened fire and killed two persons.

One of the victims was a student while the other was a health worker.

The attackers fled after carrying out the killings while the corpses of the victims have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe.
